Lead Outreach Specialist Position 

Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Lead Outreach Specialist will conduct targeted outreach and linkage to individuals, groups and communities most heavily impacted by HIV,VH, and STD in the counties of Fulton and DeKalb. Lead outreach Specialist in coordination with his/her outreach specialists will focus on high risk African-American males and females and their sexual partners, HIV-positive individuals, men who have sex with men (MSM), Sex workers, Intravenous Drug Users (IDU) and multi-substance users, and homeless regardless of their race. The Lead outreach Specialist may be asked to attend local, regional and national trainings. This is a full-time position.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Skills/Knowledge:

·     Supervises AHRC outreach team and provide feedback to the team

Train outreach team on new techniques including testing and counseling 

·     Creates monthly event calendars

·     Reports to Program Director through weekly program meetings

·     Develop recruitment plans to identify and engage sufficient program participants

·     Identify and establish working relationships with appropriate venues for intervention provision

·     Provide effective condom education. Distribute condoms to target HIV, HCV, and STI-infected  persons and persons at highest risk of acquiring HIV

·     Help clients develop the skills they need to practice safer sex and negotiate condom use

·     Conduct targeted outreach to high-risk individuals. Engage individuals in their own neighborhoods  or venues where they typically congregate to provide HIV related health information, education,  referrals and linkage to services

·     Adhere to strict procedures of confidentiality, release of information and data security

·     Provide HIV, HCV, and STI Counseling, Testing and Referrals as needed to at-risk populations in  compliance with strict standards of the Department of Health

·     Maintain accurate and complete participant records, tracking contact, participation, outreach,  counseling, testing, and referrals performance as defined by evidence-based models and  local/state/federal entities.

·     Enter Data in to Salesforce

·     Provide reports during program meetings

·     Attends night and weekend outreach

·     Ability to identify hot spots and surveillance through AHRC’s data gathering system

·     Ability to work in teams

·     Excellent skills in public speaking

·     Ability to work independently

2.     Experience/Education:

·     Masters of Public Health’s degree and 2 years of qualified experience; or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position

·     Experience related to HIV, Viral Hepatitis, and STI policies and programs training

· Experience related to epidemiological work, surveillance, monitoring and evaluation
